For many years, Kelso-Burnett Co. has worked on some immense data center projects at the world’s largest data center hub, the Lakeside Technology Center. None of them compare to the extensive project Kelso-Burnett completed with Clune Construction for Digital Realty Trust.

Kelso-Burnett Co. electricians installed six 2 Megawatt generators controlled by a 1200A paralleling switchgear room. Also installed were four new services of 12470V feeding six separate suites capable of producing 150 watts per square-foot consisting of 3200A switchboards. From each switchboard Kelso-Burnett’s project team fed four 750KVA UPS systems for a completed total of 24 UPS systems.

Overall, the entire data center build-out took over 42,000 man-hours to complete. Incredibly, Kelso-Burnett Co. installed over 80,000 feet of conduit equivalent to 15 miles and pulled over 400,000 feet of cable equivalent to 75 miles in feeders. The equipment installed for Digital Realty Trust is so powerful that the system is built to supply 10 Megawatts of power – enough energy to power 8,000 homes for one full year.
