Kelso-Burnett Co. completed the interior build-out of Microsoft Corporation’s 5th U.S. store located in Oak Brook, Illinois. The grand opening of the new 4,400 square-foot Microsoft Store in the Oakbrook Center coincided with the arrival of Microsoft’s newest gaming system, Xbox Kinect.
Kelso-Burnett technicians installed 288 Enhanced Category 6 cable runs used to control a 4-screen section of the video wall called a quad. Also installed were 156-strands of fiber optic cabling to distribute video images and cabling for access control card readers and cameras. Traditional and new Kinect game controllers were wired from the Head-End Server Room to the store’s demonstration areas. The team installed over 100 Enhanced Category 6 cables to serve the on-site Tech Room used for custom computer configurations and repairs, and installed and aligned the store’s sound system, the lap-top display tables, and the Xbox gaming podiums.
